CHAPTER 110
REGULAR MEETING MINUTES
January 13, 2010

President Don Jeffries called the meeting to order at 7:04PM.

All officers were present.

Secretary Tom Hubbuch read the minutes from the December 2009 meeting, which were accepted after a few comments.

Treasurer Berry Bannon reported the Chapter has two $500 CDs, $4494.92 in savings, $761.96 in checking and $30.00 in petty cash. The Charlie Gokey EAA Memorial Wall fund has collected $225.00; the Chapter will contribute $125.00 to meet the required $350.00 contribution. Tom Hubbuch will proceed. Berry reminded the members that dues are due.

Greeting Chairman Don Tucker reported 22 members and two guests present.

Committee Reports:

Young Eagles - Gary Graham reported that the OBAP groups are planned for Monday, June 14 and Wednesday, July 28. He has had several calls from individuals, the Boy Scouts and the Henry County ROTC, so this could be a busy year.

Bowman Eagles - Howard Edwards reported that all is going well.

Projects:

Legal Eagle - Tom Hubbuch reported that he and Howard made new Hoerner wing tips, which will be fitted to the plane on the next decent day.

Kitfox - Berry Bannon said it has been too cold to do much work.

Murphy Super Rebel - Joy Jeffries finished some fiberglass work on the cowling and work on the wing tips is underway.

Zenith 750 #1 - Bob Allen said there has been slow progress lately.

Zenith 750 #2 - Tom Palmer said his project is on the gear, and work is slowed due to a ladder accident he had.

Velocity - John Young said wiring, some engine sensors and control cables are in.

Hatz - Bruce Edsten said all his aircraft related parts are now in his hangar. He said the sheriff has caught two perpetrators who are suspected in the break-in of his new house and hangar.

C Model Aircoupe - Tom Elliot said his plane is now airworthy.

Old Business:

Double Eagle Chapter Project - Howard handed out information on the Double Eagle. He explained that the proposal calls for the Chapter to sponsor the building of the project, which would be turned over to a LLC when it is ready to fly. The project would be built by Chapter members and be eventually owned and flown by members. About 16 members indicated that they would plan to be involved in the project. There were many questions, comments and recommendations from the members. One of the main issues was related to how the project would be managed and how the Chapter would maintain its control and interest in the project. Tom Elliot volunteered to head the effort to define a “business plan”.

New Business:

- Bob Allen said that the Agape Missionary group, of which Steve Koch is a member, could use any kind of help available to assist with the Haiti earthquake rescue efforts.

- Berry said it is time to make a contribution to the Aero Club. He will check on last year’s amount.

The meeting was adjourned at about 8:33 PM.

The program was by Ralph Pawlak on how he painted his RV6a. He had never painted before, so he progressed slowly and carefully. He used Imron, costing $450/gallon. He rigged a good-sized paint booth, which was clean and well ventilated. He showed the spray guns that he used, and said the high priced one was well worth it. Some key points: don’t be in a hurry, prepare and plan, have plenty of supplies available and mix the paint well.
